Hi! I too am very disappointed at the demise of ViewRanger. I have had several communications with OA because they do not have the really important features VR had namely mileage distance markers and the visual analogue scales with distances between waypoints and from the beginning and to the end. These are really useful when planning stops diversions etc. I agree with you that most of the other stuff like buddy beacon and social media stuff is crap and not of interest to serious walkers. I stiff use my Satmap handheld device and occasionally the mobile app but these do not offer the useful features that VR offered. (Its the same old VHS/Betamax problem)
